Police launch murder probe after man in his 30s is fatally shot in east London

Police have launched a murder investigation after a man was gunned down and killed in east London.Officers rushed to Linton Road, Barking, at around 4.35am this morning following reports of a shooting.The victim, believed to be in his 30s, was found with a gunshot wound and died at the scene, despite the efforts of police and ambulance crews.The gunman is still at large, with police yet to make any arrests as part of their murder probe. The man’s next of kin have been informed and forensic detectives have set up a police cordon.  Officers rushed to Linton Road (pictured), Barking, at around 4.35am this morning following reports of a shooting The victim, believed to be in his 30s, was found with a gunshot wound and died at the scene Police stand guard at the murder scene on Linton Road, Barking, east London on Sunday A forensic detective is pictured investigating at the scene in Linton Road, Barking, today Forensic officers appeared to be bagging up evidence as they launched a murder probe A crime scene remains in place after a man in his 30s was shot and killed in east London Multiple forensic officers were at the scene today, with the gunman still at large The road has been closed as police continue to investigate the murder in the early hoursActing Detective Chief Superintendent for the area Lewis Basford said: ‘I understand the shock and concern local residents will be feeling following this incident, but I want to reassure them that a team of experienced detectives are already working diligently to piece together the events that has led to this shooting and identify who is responsible.’Local residents will see increased police activity in and around the Linton Road area and I would ask them for patience while officers carry out vital work.’If you have any concerns, or information that could assist the investigation, then please speak to one of them or contact police.’Anyone with information that could assist police is asked to call 101 or ‘X’ @MetCC and quote CAD 1295/13Oct. You can also provide information anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
