The VB during its ongoing drive against corruption in the state, has arrested an ASI Amrik Singh, posted at police station Patran, Patiala district, red handed while he was accepting a bribe of Rs. 20,000
Disclosing this here today a spokesperson of the state VB said the above mentioned accused has been arrested based on a complaint lodged by Ashok Kumar, a resident of Patran town, District Patiala.
He further informed that the complainant has approached the VB and alleged that a case had been registered against him and his associates at the Patran police station and the aforementioned police official was demanding a bribe of 20,000 to submit a cancellation report in the court pertaining to his case.
The spokesperson added that after a preliminary inquiry into this complaint, a VB team laid a trap during which the accused ASI Amrik Singh was arrested while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000 from the complainant in presence of two official witnesses. In this regard a case has been registered against the accused under prevention of corruption act at VB police station Patiala range and further investigation into this case was under progress.
