Woman cyclist is rushed to hospital after being hit by truck outside Houses of Parliament just moments after Keir Starmer entered for PMQs

A woman has been left with ‘potentially life changing injuries’ after she was hit by a lorry while cycling in Parliament Square – moments after the Prime Minister arrived for PMQs.Emergency services rushed to the square shortly after 11.30am today following the collision at the junction of Bridge Street, leading to Westminster Bridge, and Parliament Street.Police say the woman has suffered ‘potentially life-changing’ injuries but she is not believed to be in a life-threatening condition.Shocked eyewitnesses, some of whom had turned up to stage a political rally on the green at Parliament Square, said the collision had happened shortly after Sir Keir Starmer arrived at Parliament for Prime Minister’s Questions. The Metropolitan Police says it will investigate the circumstances of the collision.  An air ambulance lands on the green at Parliament Square after a cyclist was knocked down by a lorry outside the Houses of Parliament Emergency services on the scene at Parliament Square after a cyclist was hit by a lorry shortly after 11.30am The incident occured moments after Sir Keir Starmer arrived at Parliament for PMQs (pictured leaving Number 10 earlier this morning)  The Metropolitan Police said the woman suffered ‘potentially life-changing’ injuries A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: ‘We were called at 11.34am today (4 September) to reports of a road traffic collision at the junction of Bridge Street and Parliament Street, Westminster.’We sent resources to the scene, including an ambulance crew, an advanced paramedic and an incident response officer. We also dispatched London’s Air Ambulance.’We treated a woman at the scene and took her to a major trauma centre as a priority.’MailOnline understands the woman was transported to hospital by road ambulance.A Met Police spokesperson said: ‘At around 11.30 today, Wednesday, 4 September, a lorry was involved in a collision with a cyclist in Parliament Square, near the junction with Bridge Street.’London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance paramedics attended. The cyclist, a female, was taken to hospital. Her condition is not being treated as life-threatening but may potentially be life-changing.’The driver of the lorry stopped. There have been no arrests. The circumstances will be investigated.’This is a breaking story, more to follow.
