Pregnant woman suffers miscarriage and loses unborn baby after being attacked by teenagers while waiting for the bus

A pregnant woman suffered a miscarriage and lost her unborn child after being attacked by two schoolboys while waiting for a bus.The woman is said to have gotten into an altercation with two teenagers in the High Street in Tranent, East Lothian at around 6.20pm last Friday.The teenage thugs are said to have pushed the pregnant woman off a bench and knocked her to the ground before running off.She was rushed to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary by her husband the following afternoon after suffering from ‘bleeding and severe and unbearable pain’.Her distraught husband wrote an appeal on social media following the incident to track down the teenagers. The woman is said to have gotten into an altercation with two teenagers in the High Street in Tranent (pictured)Tragically, he also posted an update on Tuesday revealing that his wife suffered a miscarriage while in hospital.He wrote: ‘I just want to update everyone about the condition of my wife.’It is with a heavy heart to inform the community that my wife had a miscarriage, pregnancy loss and she is still in the hospital recuperating.’This is a very traumatic, heartbreaking, and a horrible experience for us, especially to my wife and kids.’I am making an appeal to everyone, if you have sons and daughters, nieces [and] nephews, please have a word with them.’Teach them and remind them everyday how to respect people and behave in public places. Good manners should be taught and start at home.’People were shocked to read the post with one person responding: ‘Sorry to hear this, hope they charge whoever did this to your wife and baby.’Another said: ‘I’m so sorry for this devastating loss, I hope in time you get justice.’And another said: ‘Oh my God, that’s so terrible. I really hoped she would get better. Love to you all.’According to the social media appeal, the boys were high school students and were wearing black uniforms, with one in shorts while the other wore trousers.The pregnant woman even offered them a seat and tried to be nice but the teenagers were ‘rude’.After she was hurt, she got angry and told them she was pregnant.They ‘said sorry and ran away’, the social media post added.Writing on Saturday afternoon, the husband said: ‘Just an update regarding my post last night, my wife is bleeding now and she is in severe and unbearable pain.’We are waiting for the ambulance service. This is a call for justice.’Mike Falconer, chairperson for Tranent and Elphinstone Community Council, said: ‘My absolute sincerest sympathies to them, this is absolutely awful.’Thankfully things like this don’t happen often.’I hope they’re able to trace the people responsible and they face up to what they’ve done.’A Police Scotland spokesperson said: ‘We received a report of an assault on High Street, Tranent, which happened on Friday, 30 August.’Enquiries are ongoing.’
