Spencer Matthews says completing his epic 30 marathon desert challenge is ‘one of the greatest feelings of my life’ – as he reveals plans for ANOTHER world record

Spencer Matthews has revealed his his record-breaking charity challenge which saw him run 30 desert marathons in 30 consecutive days is ‘one of the greatest feelings of my life’.The former Made in Chelsea star, 36, was greeted by his loved ones at the finish line in Jordan on Tuesday after the incredible feat which saw him run the equivalent of the entire length of the UK on sand in searing heat. However, while he pushed his body to the limit and underwent an intense training regime for the incredible feat, Spencer is not done yet as he plans for another world record. Speaking exclusively to The Mail as he crossed the finish line, the TV personality told how aside from his marriage to Vogue Williams and their three children, the charity marathons were his greatest physical and mental achievements. When asked if it was his biggest achievement, he explained: ‘ If you’re excluding things like kids and marrying the perfect woman then yes, of course it is physically. Starting my business was obviously a big deal, but in terms of physical and mental achievement, yes, of course. I’m 36 so this has been awesome. I absolutely will do more in this space. ‘I don’t know what that looks like now, the idea to do this just came to me one evening.’He added of his initial idea for his 30 marathon task: ‘I was sat there, and I suddenly thought, boom, this is what I want. And we just cracked on and did it. I have not had another moment like that yet, but I’d give it a couple of months.’For now though, he’s content with enjoying his favourite meal and pampering himself at home.On what he plans to do first, he said: ‘I’ll go home, probably have a shower. I’m going to have a takeaway with my brother in law on Thursday night. Can’t wait.’My favorite restaurant in London is Strakers and Dorian, but don’t tell Straker that, because they’re next door to each other. I absolutely will do more in this space’ Spencer’s epic desert challenge saw him run over 42.2km or 26.2 miles, every single day’But I do like them both so we’re going to go and do a dinner at Strakers.’ He added: ‘This has been a beautiful experience. This isn’t something that I’m looking to recover from. I’m keen to crack on.’The reality star ran 30 desert marathons in 30 days the Jordanian desert during which he’s dined on a boiled goat’s head and has lost ten kilos in weight.The marathons haven’t been without their challenges.Spencer had been running in daily temperatures of over 30C – he ran at 3.30am local time, to be able to control the temperature of his runs but during the day the average daily high temperature had been 38C with the highest recorded being 44C.He had a late start on Marathon 28 which saw him running 17 kilometers in 37C heat.Speaking to the Mail on Monday he said he was most excited to see his family after having ‘withdrawals’ from them.He said: ‘I daydream all the time, particularly out here, sometimes I’ll fall into a two hour daydream when I’m running,’ he said.’It’s premature to talk about it but I would love running to be accessible to all children in the UK.’Whatever, that means I haven’t sat down and tried to figure that out yet, but it’s probably something that I will look into when I get back, how to make running more accessible for young people.’Spencer said he has thought about his wife Vogue Williams whilst running ‘all the time’ and that Taylor Swift has also helped him through.He said: ‘I think about Vogue all the time when I run but I think about her when I run. We listen to great music too. We’re Swifties too, by the way. I think Taylor Swift is probably our favourite.’While Vogue was on his mind, she was also by his side as she joined him for the last few kilometers of his final marathon.

What a feeling!’ Spencer began his 786-mile trek in Wadi Rum on the edge of the Arabian desert and finished near the Dead Sea.He’s dined on a boiled goat’s head among other local foods over the 30 days and has kept his fans up to date on the epic journey via his social media. Last week he revealed he lost two stone while he was doing the 30 marathon challenge. I’m never eating chicken and rice again and I can’t wait to get home.’I’m finally proud of myself… I’ve spent lots of years feeling quite ashamed of some of my behaviour… this has really helped me move through some of that’ To prepare, he had been running in a heat chamber back in the UK and during one session, his temperature rose to 42 degrees.He explained at the time: ‘The heat chamber is at the London South Bank University and and it’s 50 degrees, it has a running machine in it which you have to power yourself, you run on a hamster wheel and for two hours at a time. Key stats   Kilometers ran: 1,266kmsSweat loss: 140L in total   ‘The aim of the game is to keep your heart rate at a certain level. My body temperature rose the other day to 42, which is a dangerous fever.’During the challenge though, I’ll be supported by my team. I’ll have food, water and gels but I am trying to do all of this with just fruit and nuts.’As well as his physical commitment to the challenge, Spencer had also transformed his diet, which helped him to increase muscle mass and refuel his body with the necessary protein it needs following hours of cardio.  He said before the challenge: ‘It’s a calorie game really. I am pretty healthy with my food. Earlier this year I read Chris van Tulleken’s book Ultra-Processed People and I found it completely fascinating.’Long story short, he basically talks about the importance of eating good quality food if you can, single ingredient food you cook yourself, vegetables, rice, fish, grains, chicken, less heavily marketed and processed food, I have been doing that for a while and feel great.’Meanwhile in the lead up to Vogue greeting him at the finish line, she said: ‘I think it’s amazing how well Spenno has done.  The camel decide to try nuzzle her face, prompting Vogue to jump back in surprise. She joked: ‘He was really into me’ Vogue also shared a clip of herself running across the tough terrain and admired her husband’s strength for taking on such a mammoth challenge He has been keeping his fans up to date with regular Instagram posts as he took on the challenge  ‘We are all so proud of him – and T keeps telling everyone he meets that his Daddy is doing 30 marathons in 30 days. ‘The most important part is the amount of money Spenno is raising – Global’s Make Some Noise does amazing work and the money will go a long way.’With the run, the former Made In Chelsea star is also raising money for charity Global’s Make Some Noise.Global’s Make Some Noise aims to change lives across the UK by helping people through bereavement, mental health struggles, illness and much more, ensuring nobody is left to face life’s toughest challenges alone.Last month before the challenge began Spencer revealed his ‘shocking’ relationship with alcohol left him feeling ‘ashamed’ but he’s now in the ‘best shape of his life’ after undergoing the ultramarathon training.The former Made In Chelsea star quit booze in 2018 after admitting filming the E4 reality series had exacerbated his inability to drink healthily.In an exclusive interview with MailOnline, Spencer in July he said he feels guilt-ridden looking back at his previous behaviour with alcohol, which he gave up to protect his seven-year marriage to presenter Vogue.Spencer said: ‘I have come from having a shocking relationship with alcohol and feeling quite ashamed of myself actually to now being in a position where I’m really happy and comfortable. Last month before the challenge began Spencer revealed his ‘shocking’ relationship with alcohol left him feeling ‘ashamed’ but he’s now in the ‘best shape of his life’ after undergoing the ultramarathon training ‘The things that have made a big difference to my overall health are hardly ever drinking, minimal amounts of alcohol, exercise, good sleep and proper supplements.
